Shakhtar Donetsk: Serhii Palkin was running the biggest soccer club in Ukraine. After war broke out, his life changed forever

The noise of fighter jets zipping overhead is a sound that Serhii Palkin finds difficult to forget – even two years on.

Like every Ukrainian, the 49-year-old lived through the “nightmare” that unfolded as Russia began its full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022.

While he scrambled to keep his young family safe amid the near constant bombardment, Palkin also had the responsibility of looking after Ukraine’s most successful soccer club, Shakhtar Donetsk.

Molly Carlson was in a ‘dark place’ prior to Rio Olympics. Now she is inspiring millions to talk about mental health

For most people, jumping off a platform which hangs 66-feet in the air from a cliff with just deep open water below is a terrifying prospect, but for high diver and influencer Molly Carlson it is a chance to be free. It is her time to fly.

For the self-described “professional athlete with anxiety,” these dizzying heights are where she feels most at peace. Cliff diving helped the 25-year-old recover from what she calls a “year from hell,” overcoming loneliness and a binge eating disorder. It is,

Meet the skydiver who flew in a wingsuit past the castle which inspired Walt Disney

An inspiration for Walt Disney’s imagination for the Sleeping Beauty castle, Germany’s Neuschwanstein Castle is a go-to tourist destination for around 1.4 million people per year.

But for professional skydiver Max Manow, it’s a landmark that has been ever-present in his life since childhood and a sight he remembers fondly growing up.

However, in September, Manow’s two worlds collided as the 34-year-old became the first person to detach from a paraglider mid-air and fly past Neuschwanstein Cast

Bayern Munich 74-65 Žalgiris Kaunas: Jaramaz’s career game leaves Žalgiris winless on road

11th January 2022 – Žalgiris Kaunas’ spirited 30-minute fight proved not enough as Bayern Munich, inspired by the career performance of Ognjen Jaramaz, secured a crucial home win against the Lithuanian side 74-65. This loss further extends Green-and-Whites’ hopeless run on the road as they lost all ten as the German giants began their chase for playoff spots.

Bayern Munich began the encounter more efficiently, establishing an early 11-5 lead mid-1st quarter but the efforts of Marek Blazevic and

The best summer transfer before it started: why Erling Haaland will be a huge success for Manchester City

The football community received long-awaited news today: Erling Haaland will take his talents to Manchester City next season and will try to lead the Blues to the much-dreamed Champions League triumph. Kaunas, Lithuania: why you MUST visit the European Capital of Culture

A place in the middle of Lithuania that was granted city status in 1408. A city which was the temporary capital of the Baltic state between both World Wars. A place where basketball played an important role in the national awakening during Soviet Union times.

There is a saying, you have not truly visited Lithuania until you visit Kaunas, the heart of the country. Here, at CatchFlightsNotFeels, we will tell you why you must consider visiting the current European Capital of Culture and feel #kaun

Knife crime offences in West Yorkshire more than doubled since 2012 as fewer offenders are caught, investigation reveals

Knife crime is one of the most common acts of crime and concerns in the UK in recent years. It is a concerning issue that will always grab headlines and calls for political figures to start taking action now because ‘it may be too late’.

Huddersfield in West Yorkshire has experienced a surge in knife crime offences on the streets, with the murder of 15-year-old Khayri Mclean in September 2022, together with many high-profile incidents in Leeds, shocking many people around the United Kingdom. Th

FUTURE NEW YORK KNICK: ROKAS JOKUBAITIS IS HERE TO TAKE OVER

January 9th, 2018. An ordinary day for some… but not for Rokas Jokubaitis.

The then 17-year-old scored 31 points for Žalgiris Kaunas youth team against Vytautas Prienai Birštonas, a team that made waves in the US sports media after signing LaMelo Ball, who now plays for the Charlotte Hornets in the NBA. At times, Lithuania’s basketball hope and the 3rd overall pick in the 2020 NBA draft went against each other, and Rokas looked like an adult playing a scrimmage against a kid who stepped on a ba

I went to watch the least watched sport in the UK and was pleasantly surprised

Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, Shaquille O’Neal, LeBron James – perhaps you’ve seen them on your TV screens, on shows like Ellen or Jimmy Fallon. Maybe you’ve even worn trainers with their names on them.

They are four of the most popular basketball players of all time in the United States, and perhaps the world. They form the Mount Rushmore of the least-watched sport in the United Kingdom. According to the YouGov tracker, only 2% of the UK’s population actively follows basketball.

How the UK made me fall in love with football (again)

Growing up in Lithuania, I was supposed to live, breath, eat and dream basketball. 90% of sports media coverage was, and still is, about Žalgiris Kaunas, the pride and joy of every Lithuanian, or about fellow compatriots who were playing great against NBA’s best and putting our country’s name on the map for ordinary Americans who thought that Lithuania is still a part of Soviet Union. Although I love and enjoy basketball, the affection to football is difficult to describe to this day.
